Dance like no one is watching

These are my blogging prompts for today or rather tomorrow:

  1. Dance like no one is watching. Who are you when no one is watching?
  2. “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran

When your legs don’t work like they used to before
And I can’t sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love?
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?

If I were thinking out loud… o.k. I guess I am thinking out loud now – in general I am pretty much the same person no matter if someone is watching or not. But dancing? Nope, I just don’t dance very well. It all started with me having been taller than 99.9 % of my class, which kind of stayed that way. And, let’s admit it, that is not quite what you want as a woman, especially when dancing. So, basically dancing had no part in my life, until David entered it. Not that he is much taller than me, in fact we are about the same height. But dancing with David, I did not really care about if others were watching, because it just was fun and felt good. In fact we had so much fun that for years we took classical/ballroom dance lessons and went to a few big balls at the Vienna castle (Wiener Hofburg). We are hoping that one day we will be able continue where we left off (due to a health issue).

Having said that, there are those evenings when I come home from work, go to the kitchen start cooking dinner while listening to music. And it is said to have happened that depending on mood and music I was dancing around the kitchen and singing while preparing said dinner.

  1. Oh how cute! Looks like disco fever! LOL! I have not danced in years. I loved to dance, did it every chance I got since a young girl. Never had dancing lessons unless you count the square dancing and waltz lessons the Nuns gave us in the third grade.

    • That could absolutely have something to do with it, too. Although I will admit that I was still very conscious about how we looked and danced etc. But, only conscious, not caring too much. I hope you enjoy dancing!!

  2. Loving the photo:) Dance was my entire childhood and I taught ballroom before radio so we definitely differ here, but I think I always managed to date men that hated it. I find these days that dancing like everyone or no one is watching means nothing! Then again, I do yoga in my sink:)

    • Yeah, music was always big in my life, too, just never dancing so much, because… I love to see your yoga (dancing) pictures. It always looks awesome! Also in the sink – hahahaha – at least you fit in there, I barely fit on the counter – hahahaha

  3. Thinking out Loud has to be my favourite song at the moment. Actually, for a few months now — I actually wake up to it on my iPhone alarm! 🙂
and for the record, I am not saying I dance “well” – LOL. I’m just silly and crazy and the rare actual good dance move might appear. haha But I would LOVE to do ballroom dancing and that. I actually dated a guy in University who taught at his dad’s dance studio, and he would dance with me like that. It was so fun. mostly for me, it’s just about letting go and being in the moment.
I bet if I was there and your blender was making one of those fabulous drinks I see you post: we will dance my friend! 🙂

    • Ahem, you know, I haven’t even listened to it – yet. I only looked at the lyrics – oh my… My iPhone alarm sports The Offspring – hahaha
Who says what is ‘dancing well’. I really think the most important thing that you feel good about what you do i.e. dance. Oh yeah, talking about letting go – David always complained about me being tough to lead in dancing, but then when an instructor would dance with me to teach something they would say, I am easy to lead – hahahaha – so now, what is the truth?!
Oh yes, just gimme a nice cocktail or two and we will dance the night away…. Having an Abbey Cocktail right now 😀

  4. Cassidy is a bit of a superstar on the dance floor. I just vary. I can be very stiff, or I can be totally loose. But not like..good or anything.
I certainly dance like no one is watching, and that’s how I like it!

    • Oh boy, that man… I really don’t think one man can live up to all the good stuff you (and Lindsay) say about Cassidy. Tough. Very tough. But good for you 🙂 He should sweep you over the dancefloor – I know you’d look gorgeous!

  5. I love that you and David took ballroom dancing together – that’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but the hubby has two left feet and doesn’t like to dance. 🙂 And I LOVE “Thinking Out Loud” – I do that often. 😉

    • Yep, we sure did. And we would gladly do it again, if only that darn’ foot was better… Oh, and he has, well, not two left feet, but let’s just say he is not the natural dancer. But it does not matter – we had fun!
