Fairy girl drawing on my iPad Pro – a work in progress

Welcome to Friday on my blog

Having a day or two off and spending the morning reading and commenting on blogposts, got me inspired to post on my own blog today as well.

As some of you know I spent the holidays with family in San Francisco, which meant two long flights. The first one was pretty bad with a long delay and lots of turbulence and a cabin that was either too cold or too hot and constantly alternating between the two. Needless to say I didn’t get anything done.

However on the flight back on Tuesday, I drew the whole time on my iPad Pro in Procreate. Somehow I did not feel like reading or watching a movie. And I also only listened to music a little. But still, somehow time just flew by (no pun intended) and thus, despite a few minor turbulences, it was a pretty good flight.

The below obviously is a work in progress, but it seems to me like this little girl or fairy, the picture has got a story to tell. And I hope to be telling it at some point.

For now I’ll just keep drawing, inking and coloring away. Next will be a bit of ink or maybe some more background.I also wanted to take part in Friday’s Friendly Fill ins hosted by Ellen of 15andmeowing and by McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader. And today’s or tomorrow’s, depending on when you read this post, the prompts are:

  1. The highlight of my Christmas was being in San Francisco visiting family, enjoying the company, good food, wine and wine country
  2. My New Year’s resolution is none. I have never been a friend of New Year’s resolutions. I prefer to believe that if you want to change something, you should do it when ever you want to, not because it is a new year.
  3. This year, 2016, was not boring. I am back windsurfing after last year’s hiccup, we became a one-income-household and we lived through a tropical storm / almost hurricane at the beach.
  4. Next year, 2017, it will be interesting to see if it will be a little more boring than 2016…

And that’s a wrap!

Oh, since at least some of you seem to like the timelapse videos of my drawings, I will also be sharing that at the bottom. But it is fairly long this time, remember the flight was quite long, too.Cheers,

  1. Your little girl/fairy is wonderful. I originally thought the song “Walking in a Winder Wonderland” came to mind when I saw her. She’s adorable. I am VERY impressed by your mad computer skills!

I originally came because I read your comment about my new computer. It was ironic, because Scott and I were talking tonight, and, although he says PS is a memory hog, I’ve got so much memory, I will never use it all or overpower it, he thinks it will run very slow once he puts it on my computer, but now that he thinks he knows how to do it, he agrees it’s what I am used to, so I might as well use it. And since mu mew computer is SO much faster, I think “slow” is relative. He thinks Gimp and Pixlr are equally good, use far less memory, and are free. Now he thinks that since he has a way to get the 32 bit software on my 64 bit computer, I should keep PS. Not sure why or how I convinced him to try to keep it, but that’s why he was originally so opposed to it. Every time I would complain about my slow computer he would say “it wouldn’t be so slow if you would get rid of that memory hog PS.”

I reminded him that my first computer didn’t even have a hard drive, but two disks. The guy who built it for me thought I was nuts because I wanted the A drive to be a 3 1/2 floppy (720K) and the B drive to be the 5 1/4 floppy (64 K). Back then, I carried one floppy that had the boot drive and operating system, along with a word processing program, data base, and Lotus (spreadsheet), all of which used less than 64 K. Today, a single photo I take uses nearly 1 M. Times have truly changed, haven’t they? So glad you enjoyed the post. I wasn’t sure anyone would really care.

  2. this is a lovely image in progress. One of your best I think. IMO that is. 🙂 My computer is still at the workshop and I don´t think it will never come back so I can´t practise on my little pad. 🙁

Wishing you a Happy New Year.

  3. Beautiful use of time, and I look forward to her story, too!

Resolutions can and should be done whenever it is felt to be needed. I think a new year just gives a fresh slate to some.

Wishing you a very happy year! Hug.

  7. She’s lovely!! I was watching the video and just fascinated by the whole process, and also thankful that I never have to draw hands because I don’t think I could ever get them right. Then I was watching the hair style change and I kept whispering “long hair. keep the long hair.” LOL But then you know —– the short hair WAS better. It’s perfect — suits the wee fairy just so. All my “art” feels like it’s been happening in the kitchen – ha. So much cooking and baking!!
