Goodbye to winter for s~A(R)T~urday w/linky

Welcome to the weekend. Welcome to Saturday art linky!

s~A(R)T~urday

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” Edgar Degas

So, here I am, late again for my very own link up – no good. I’ll just blame it on being slow as a turtle moving around and getting things done these days. Makes you appreciate a lot of things, most especially your other half 8-). I am still trying to catch up on reading and commenting, too. I think I may have to do this backwards i.e. start with the newest ones and work my way back. Eventually. Hopefully. There is always hope.

Hope has kept us, well, at least me going. Hope that there will be spring – soon. And summer – eventually. Which means winter will finally be gone. The weather forecast actually threatened us with flurries for today. Thankfully that did not happen – so far at least. But all this got me to quickly create the image below – a goodbye to winter.

How about you? What have you been up to? Is it still winter where you are?

winter, ice, grunge, goodbye

*** Here is where I link up today. ***

Please help me spread the word about my Saturday Art Linkup and grab my badge below:

Since this is a new link up I think I will leave my little explanation up in this post . There are actually three reasons behind my offering this opportunity to showcase your art a little.

  1. I love art, see and experience, fantasize and dream, live and create it
  2. For a long time I wanted to create my own link up. One that represents – me, in a creative sense, of course, = art
  3. A while back there used to be a photo art link up I participated in a few times, but Bonnie (Photo Art Friday) is taking an extended break

There are oh.so.many link ups out there on the web it is mind-boggling. You can get seriously lost in any number of them. While they can be a big time sucker they are also always a lot of fun. Behind each link up there usually is – at some point – a dedicated community. One that over time I am hoping to build with my link up, too. Please don’t be intimidated that I am calling this an art linky. Simply share some of your creations. Art is completely subjective. It takes courage and time to realize that you may actually call your own creations art. And if you believe they are pieces of art, I believe they are. They may be good or bad or great – who am I to say?! I’d rather like to think along these words from Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.  Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.  While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Having said that I want this link up to be open to all arts. Yes, my personal medium is photography and photo art, which is what you will be getting from me. But I do not want to put a limit on my art link up and thus it is open to all forms of (somewhat) visual art. I am saying somewhat, as it has to be able to be displayed in a digital way here on the website. That does include

photography

– yes, straight out of the camera is fine, too – as long as you think it is art –

photo art

– edited, enhanced, destroyed, composited – whatever – as long as you think it is art –

writing

– I don’t have the words to describe this one, but… – as long as you think it is art –

painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, design, crafts, video, graphic design… everything!

– as long as you think it is art – it is art -show   it

    • Really, in Cornwall?! Somehow I have a hard time picturing your beautiful part of the world with snow. Probably because I have such fond memories of do B&B tours there 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Winter. Bah. We got another cold snap. But the, Virginia has these things. It seems that when Easter is early (in March or first few days of April) we can always count on a cold snap or even snow! I am ready for warm sunny days. I know you are. Hope the foot is good.

    • Yep, it still is way too cold here, too. As I said, we did not get the flurries, but it is cold, freezing. Next week looks to be a little warmer though, finally.
The foot is as good as can be, I guess. Another couple of weeks, then check up…

  2. We got out and did yard work yesterday because it was time and the sun was shining. But there was a definite chill in the air – Husband wanted to go to the beach – to have our first Saturday afternoon of the season out there, but I vetoed that. The wind was blowing and it’s too chilly for that. Maybe next weekend!

Once again, you have created a beautiful image! One of these days I will figure out how to do something like this (might be an idea for a post for you if you haven’t already done one 😉 ). Thank you four joining us again this week!

    • I really think it was a little bit more than a chill 😉 at least around here. But the sun certainly does have a lot of warm power to it already. And just generally feels nice. I don’t mind going to the beach any time of the year. I simply love it. Any season. Any weather. I don’t care. Wind – even better. For windsurfing 😀
Thank you for your compliment, Jen. I have done iPhone tips and HDR tutorial, but nothing for this kind of composit – yet. I don’t think there are too many of my readers really interested in how these are done. But – prove me wrong, Readers, and I’ll do it!

  3. I am ready to say goodbye to winter for good….quite chilly in Chicgoland today but a warm up is in the works. Still, I have had many gorgeous wintery shots taken this year from my car so I stayed nice and cozy♪

    • Oh my, from Chicagoland – I bet you are. I don’t think I could live any further north than I am at this point. No, no, I want it warm. I do like nice snowy, icy winter shots, but… for a day? Or, like you, from a car.

  5. So much snow… I can’t believe it and am eternally grateful that I do not have to deal with it at all! It’s been so pleasant here the past few days and if I could I would send you some of it! Here’s hoping it’s all done with soon.
