Welcome to my ‘greens’ s~A(R)T~urday linky party!

In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Arrrrgggh! I didn’t make it. I tried. I had fun. I…. o.k. slow down. What’s happening – or not?

Well, I started a new painting last week. I think I mentioned it in last Saturday’s post. And I was certain I’d get it finished. Because two days this week I got home just before six and that gave me an hour or so to be able to paint. Outside. Before it got dark. Then Friday came and everything looked good until – I had to stay later at work to finish stuff before going on a trip and then dropping by the pharmacy on the way home. Meaning it was 6:30 pm before I got home.

I dropped all my bags, got my painting stuff and sat down outside and starting drawing in a few details. But within about half an hour it was getting dark, it had been pretty overcast, so I had to stop. Because I just couldn’t see anymore what I was painting. And that is quite obviously no good.

So today, instead of getting out an older piece for my post, I decided to show you the piece I am working on. It is obviously not finished. Hand, butterfly, shirt, background – all need more, it is a work in progress. Since I won’t have time for the next couple of weeks, this is going to be it for now. I am very simply calling it

I hope that over time we will be building a community dedicated to art and creating. I rather like these words said by Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.

Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.

While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Thank you so much, Annie. To be honest – green really is not my color, but maybe that was the reason I started this painting in green, to challenge myself.

    Love the painting 🙂

She is beautiful, Claudia. Love that color too. Do recall anything about the ladies dying their hair different colors in Germany for some kind of event each year? I saw some of the older ladies one time and they all had different color hair and wore these old fashioned hats. I never did figure out what was going on but I recall that all the people around them and us seemed to think it pretty normal. Somebody told me it was an annual thing.

I love your beautiful blog. The images you have created are fantastic. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂

Thank you very much, Pat. I love your artwork, be it quilts, dolls or photography, and hope that you will be linking some of it one day @ sARTurday.

I love green eyes.. and as it turns out.. green hair.
I love that you just sat down and did it. Scarlet asked me to paint with her recently and I froze.. because I have no idea how.

Well, I am certainly no hero when it comes to painting, especially faces. I used to love painting landscapes, but that is totally different. And after 20, 30 years, I am now re-learning.

  • Rorybore

I love it so far. And it’s actually great for us to see it at this stage, so we can see later how it progresses!
As you know my weekend left no room for creating anything! except my own clean house and I fear that’s not exactly Art. LOL

    • Claudia Willison

A (clean) house can absolutely be art, although I fear that most of us or our homes would not qualify – hahaha. But the most important thing about ‘our houses’ is that it is and feels like home and not art that you may not touch.
