Sound of Silence

songography It is Sunday, actually Easter Sunday, so – Happy Easter! – and most people have other things to do. But I like taking photos and sharing them with you right here on my site anytime. Today’s song for Kathy’s You’ll-shoot-your-eyes-out Song-ography is: The Sound Of Silence! by Simon & Garfunkel. You probably don’t know that I used to play guitar a long, long time ago. And when I did there were quite a few Simon & Garfunkel songs in my repertoire, including this one. So, naturally I love it!

My photo for this song was taken last week when I met with friends from Germany visiting New York City. One evening we met for dinner in Hoboken, right at the waterfront. Naturally I wanted to take a photo or two, but – as usual – I did not bring my tripod (hey, I went for dinner, not a photo tour!) and I did not take into account how cold and windy it had gotten – again. We withstood the cold for a whopping five minutes with chattering teeth and fingers. I guess you can imagine what that did to the majority of my photos… Still, this one I think is mostly acceptable, blown out highlights – check, a little soft due to the high ISO (2500) – check, but I think it gets the message across.

New York, New York – silence over the river, with neon lights and streets and people beyond. Listen to the sound of silence.

nyc, skyline, hoboken, empire state building, chrysler building

See you again next Sunday for another round of Song-ography. Hope to see you again there.

  1. So sorry to be late in visiting from Song-ography. Isn’t it funny how silent a bustling city can be when gazing upon it from afar?!? One of the most beautiful skylines in the world. Thank you for joining in at Song-ography.
