A beach day @ the Outer Banks

coffeechatLeslie’s question today is: What does your name mean? If you use an alias tell why you are using that particular moniker. Well, not much to tell here. I usually use either my real name, well, the one after I got married or I use my business name: ImagesByCW, which is also pretty much self explanatory. Images – made by me, Claudia Willison. And that’s it. I know – boring, no funky alias.

And Kathy’s You’ll-shoot-your-eyes-out Song-ography song this week is “Perfect Day” by Lou Reed. It does not ring a bell, this song. I think I need to hear it, maybe then it’ll hit me. But the lyrics – perfect!

‘Just a perfect day
You made me forget myself
I thought I was someone else
Someone good

What is a beach day? ‘Just a perfect day’!

We had a lot of perfect days during our vacation at the Outer Banks.

Starting with one or the other of those wonderful sunrises over the ocean.

Then on to catching waves and water, one way or the other.

Or simply enjoy the beach and sand and sun. Some of us tan a little more than others in the same time period.

And finishing off with the sun setting behind the lighthouse, while the moon rises red over the ocean.

Followed by a clear starry night.

Perfection.

Wavy sunrise

SUnrise

Sunrise reflections

Sandy colors

Dogs playing

Waves clash

Windsurfing

Like glass

Crash!

Surfing the waves

Just me

Lighthouse sundown

Sunset over Avon

Red moon rising

Starry, starry night...

    • Yep, you got me! These pictures are not all from one day, although each day was pretty much as perfect as the other.
Oh yes, the North Sea… although, I have not been to many lighthouses there, but I’ve seen there lights at night 🙂

    • Thanks, Debbi, I thought the progression would be a nice twist of things. I really enjoyed trying to take the star pictures, not that easy. But the stars are so, so bright down there. Well, actually the other way around, not so many distracting, polluting lights on the Outer Banks…

  1. I think Claudia must mean “she who takes stunning photographs ….and has pretty toes.”
that lighthouse one! oh my gosh, I would love to get a shot just like that.

I looked up Claudia in the Urban Dictionary. It’s long, but I think probably perfect 🙂

“As opposed to the name’s actual meaning, Claudia’s are so not lame, at all, whatsoever.

If you ever meet a Claudia, you won’t regret it. Claudia’s are the most amazing people in the world. They are beautiful, but sometimes they won’t realize it. You just have to let them know. They have beautiful hair, eyes, a beautiful smile….

They are really nice and fun to be around. Even if you’re just sitting there, it’s fun. Whenever you need someone to talk to, Claudia will always be there to listen to you. They’re the best trustie that you can have.

Claudia’s are always there for you, so they hate betrayal. If you tell them something, make sure you mean it, don’t disappoint them.

It’s guaranteed that you will fall in love with Claudia, so don’t ever let her go.”

    • I had to save my reply to your comment last, because – you are really too sweet (see David’s comment above). Thank you, thank you, thank you. For complimenting photographs – I am sure you would take many great ones yourself if you saw that lighthouse or another one. For your nice words about my horrible toes – they need a manicure after two weeks of saltwater and sand and for looking up such a wonderfully positive meaning of my name.
p.s. you left out the ‘they think they’re fat’ part – that is very true, too – LOL – David can vouch for it
pps. I also like the next explanation: This name relates to active minds and restless urge to explore new ideas. Combined with last name can, and most likely will, create greatness.
Claudia seeks change, travel, new opportunities and challenges. Her active, restless nature demands action and dislikes system and monotony.
Versatile and capable; with great vision and adept at formulating new, more effective ways of doing things.
Leslie – thank you for making me smile. I need that. We all need it.

  2. I love the shot of the water hitting the storm wall (not sure what it’s really called, I live in the semi-desert). You captured the crashing of the water amazingly.

  3. I adore the Outer Banks. We vacationed there every summer when the kids were growing up. Brings back such wonderful memories of MANY “Perfect Days”. Thanks for sharing at Song-ography!

    • That is one (of the many) things I love about the Outer Banks, it really gets dark there and the stars are shining and twinkling brightly down at us 🙂 I probably could have had better photos if I had walked down to the beach, away from the beach houses with their bright windows, but even like this, I am quite happy with how the photos turned out. Thanks for dropping by!
