What do computers, blogging and art have in common?

Welcome to the weekend on my blog

Answer: They are all big parts of my life.

Friday: I failed to post my weekly weekend update, because I worked.

Saturday: I spent the morning drawing and intended to post in the afternoon. In the afternoon we got more bad computer news and we picked up our ‘baby’ from the repair shop who unfortunately were not able to help. The rest of the afternoon and early evening was spent, yet again, with computer tinkering. i.e. we copied the data off the hard drives, which turned out to be good.

Sunday: All morning was spent trying to figure out – again – how to make the computer work.

It is now 3 pm on Sunday.

There is light at the end of the (computer) tunnel. David is putting it together and we hope to get away with only having to re-install Windows, we will see. So, I am finally sitting down to write this post.

I started the drawing you see below last weekend, and haven’t worked on since, because I actually did some digital drawing during the week. Anyhow this is going to be one in a little series. Another artist in one of my courses suggested to look up artists that inspire(d) you and then try to emulate their style. To make it comparable choose the subject of your picture be the same in all versions. This artist used a selfie and I swiftly followed in her footsteps, using this non-selfie that David took of me in Washington DC.

I know, I know, the below picture doesn’t look anything like the photo or me. But the artist I am trying to emulate here is Sergio Toppi, you may find some of his work here in this google search. I am intrigued by how intricate and expressive his work is. I think this is also the first time I tried and used cross-hatching, for real! Anyways, this is the most abstract (?) one in this series, trust me. And also, it is not finished. There are a lot of doodles still missing, and color, too. I had intended to do some of that – this weekend, alas, you know what happened with my time.

So, that’s it for me today. Oh, and apologies for not visiting your works, but I will be making my rounds to your blogs soon, promise.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a great week!Cheers,

claudia3

If I have time I will be linking with one or more of the fine people in this collection – check them out!

  1. So beautiful. I love it. Can’t wait to see what else you do with it. It looks great as is. Hope your computer troubles will be all done with. Good luck!
