It is the weekend. You read right, for me it is the weekend. It is Thanksgiving holiday in the US and I am having time off until Monday. So, let’s not talk about work. Let’s talk about what I am up to this long weekend.
Turkey – of course, I am married to an American, who doesn’t eat red meat. So, naturally Thanksgiving is one of the biggest things around here. And so is the turkey – 20 lbs for just the two of us. Suffice to say, we have lots of freezer bags ready.
Gaming – yep, there’s going to be some of that, too. It is always a pretty good distraction from getting too tied up, too focused about one thing.
And then there’s
Creating a game.
That is what David and I have set out to do this long weekend. We are giving ourselves exactly these four days to create a game from A – Z. Obviously it won’t be anything fancy like the current MMOs and it definitely will not be a 1st person shooter or such, but something much simpler.
David has been tinkering with game coding for a while now and when he saw my recent drawings, he thought it would be a great idea to create a game together.
He will be working on the game engine a.k.a. coding and I will do the drawing a.k.a. design. It is going to be fun! Maybe the odd argument or two will be heard around our house also, but – who cares. We’ll be together. We’ll be creating together. And we’ll have fun and arguments together.
Together life is good.
Maybe you will even find my little snail (mail) in the game somewhere – hahahaha – who knows. It is way too early to tell.
But, I will keep you updated and write a post each day for the rest of this week.
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done.
Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.
While they are deciding, make even more art.”
Why don’t you join me along my journey and follow me on , and if you prefer and see what I come up with next. You can, of course, also subscribe by email – (click) here or you may follow my blog with Bloglovin or my preferred reader Feedly.
Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!
oh how fun! You guys are so inventive! Code? ME? Never mind. But you knew that! I hope you have a great Turkey day!
Well, we’ll see. We do have ‘big’ plans, but we have never done something as challenging as this, I think. Thus, I will hold us accountable by blogging each day about it.
Enjoy your turkey or anything else, too, Debbi!
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy!
Thank you, Annie. We did, I hope you did, too.
That is pretty awesome. Can’t wait to hear/read more. Happy Thanksgiving to both of you! Enjoy every bite of that turkey. xoxo
So far it is fun and every bite of that turkey was good 🙂
Oh this sounds so fun!! I love that you are doing this together. I love your collaboration of words and images over on David’s story, and I can only guess that you will do great with this project too! Will we get to see results?
That snail seriously needs to be made into a stamp. 🙂
Hi Leslie,
Yes, we do hope to have the finished product availble for download, so stay tuned! Thanks for dropping by!
🙂 But you cannot make your own stamp, can you?!
