Graveyard fairytale style

Welcome to the weekend. Welcome to my fairytale style Saturday linky party – s~A(R)T~urday!

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” Andy Warhol

This morning I was going to look for a different quote to go with my image. But then I thought, no, in a way it is just perfect for my storybook or fairytale style church graveyard. What better symbol for change than a graveyard? Don’t worry, I do not have a death wish, maybe a somewhat morbid taste for imagining the stories and the history when I wander through a cemetery. Wandering past markers that date back to the 17th or 18th century takes my mind places…

300 (!) years. So many lives. So much creativity. Just imagine.

That is a lot of time gone by. Lots of people, lots of changes and a ton of art got created in their and our lives. Graveyards are wonderful, quiet places for contemplation and remembrance. Yet also for finding wonderful art and symbolism. If you are interested in learning a bit about them check out a series about graveyard symbolism: Graveyard Art I – IV I did a couple of years ago with my partner in crime TwistedpixelStudio. Of course, I only provided – most – of the photos. Debbi is the one who could teach you a thing or two about the art to be found on gravestones.

Back to the present, last week the final entry to my linkup came from Mary. And her entry is not photoart, but writing. I think I cannot mention it enough, so I will do it again: Art comes in almost as many ways as there are people. My Saturday link up is not limited to photoart, but is open to any form of art (i.e. ‘as long as YOU think it’s art, it is art’). Please have your writer friends join in our community and have a read of Mary’s poem: Last week’s entry here.

Tell me, what are you going to do this weekend? While we are still waiting, rather impatiently, for our truck to be repaired we will probably not be going far for a bike ride. But I’m sure we will still be enjoying the beautiful summer weather. I hope you do, too, where ever you are. Thank you for being part of our little art community, I look forward to seeing what you have been creating.

*** Here is where I link up today. ***

Please help me spread the word about my Saturday Art Linkup and grab my badge below:

I hope that over time we will be building a community dedicated to art and creating. My personal medium is photography and photo art, but I do not want to put a limit on my art link up. Thus I encourage you to join me, no matter which your art form is. Please do not be intimidated that I am calling this an art link up. I want you to share your creations. Art is completely subjective. It takes courage and time to realize that you may actually call your own creations art. If you believe they are pieces of art, I believe they are. They may be good or bad or great – who am I to say?! I’d rather like to think along these words from Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.

Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.

While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Why don’t you join me along my journey and follow me on  and  if you prefer and see what I come up with next. You can, of course, also subscribe by email – (click) here or you may follow my blog with Bloglovin or my preferred reader Feedly.

Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!
