Kralendijk ~ Alphabe- Thursday

This week’s letter is ‘K’ for

~ Kralendijk ~

Kis most definitely not one of the most commonly used letters in English. And I have not been part of Alphabe- Thursday for — phew, oh so long… So, lets switch languages, shall we? O.k. not really, because I do not speak Dutch. Kralendijk however, originates exactly there. So, what is Kralendijk, I hear you ask. Well, Kralendijk is where we have been a few times already and will be again in the very near future. It is the main city and capital of Bonaire. Our Caribbean windsurfing paradise. Our winter escape. Our spring vacation spot. Kralendijk is not where we will be staying, because we will be right on Sorobon Beach our windsurfing spot. But I am sure we will be visiting Kralendijk every now and then to go for dinner or just a brief stroll through the harbor.

Maybe I’ll even visit one of the other cemeteries, who knows. Last year, when David broke his hand, I took a trip to the cemetery right in the center of Kralendijk. What a difference to European or American ones. Most, but not all, graves were above the ground – might have something to do with the water level, but I don’t really know. I am no expert, I only enjoy the silence, admire artwork and take photos. And in exactly that spirit I will leave you with a whole bunch of photos taken on last year’s trip to Bonaire. Cannot wait till the next one (with all the snow and cold around here)!

This is my contribution today to round 8 of Alphabe- Thursday hosted by Jenny Matlock.
