A Martini or Gibson cocktail recipe for Christmas maybe?

Good morning, All. ’tis the Tuesday before Christmas.  David and I had intend to publish the 3rd part of  David’s The Robot Apocalypse today, yet, overseas travel on his part and pre-holiday break work stress on my part kind of threw a monkey wrench into our plans. Oh well, part 3 will definitely be online next Tuesday and should you have missed the first two parts – here they are: Part #1 and Part #2.

As previously I will be linking with Elizabeth & Bleubeard at AlteredBooklover and with Les for her Coffee Chat, even though one or both may already be on a Christmas break. I will find out.

To stay true to the RobotApocalypse I am sharing with you today a recipe, to be precise a cocktail recipe and, of course, photos of it.

At my office’s Christmas party we always have a ‘yankee swap’ where you could end up with anything from totally awesome to absolutely useful, but the best part is the fun of it all. This year, I got lucky and ended up with a set of colored glasses, which I really liked. They could be used for any cold drink e.g. water, soda juice or, in this case here, a cocktail.

This is a very easy, but somewhat strong cocktail, a Martini or Gibson, in my case – dry. The recipe is so easy, it is hardly worth noting, but here we go.

Martini or Gibson

A fairly strong, but straight, no-nonsense old school cocktail
Author:
Recipe type: Cocktail
Ingredients
  • 2 parts gin of your choice - mine is Bombay Sapphire
  • 1 part vermouth - my choice is Noilly Prat
  • olives or onions
Instructions
  1. place ice cubes in a tumbler
  2. fill gin over them
  3. add the vermouth
  4. place lid on tumbler and shake for 10 seconds
  5. optional - add ice cube(s) to your glass
  6. pour into your cocktail glass
  7. add olives to make a Martini or
  8. add onions to make a Gibson

Cheers! Quite literally and because it is way, way too early I will now go back to my coffee. Have a wonderful day!

  1. Oh one of my faves.. and I also like it dry and with Bombay! We would definitely get along at a cocktail party – ha. And I like the idea of a blackberry garnish (even though I could eat a truckful of olives). I’ll have to try that. Lovely glasses too. As you’ve probably noticed, I am on the holiday break with the chat. I figured this week would just be too crazy busy with running around. Merry Christmas and cheers!

  2. I like those glasses too. Corey likes this kind of martini. Simple but good. And he loves it with olives. I’m more a lychee-sake martinit kind of girl. Love a little fruit in my drinks. 🙂

  3. I love the glasses you got in the exchange, and I think you got a very good deal. I also like the photos of your martini and gibson, but I prefer coffee. I’ve always been the designated driver when my friends and I go out. The photos make them simply irresistible, though.

Thanks for sharing these drinks with us for T this Tuesday. I can definitely relate to unforeseen circumstances, and was delighted that you showed up to share your gifts and drinks with us for T. No hiatus here. I’m coffee driven!

  4. Yes, you read about martini coctails in books and see them in films but in fact I have never had one. It sounds like the sort of thing I would like. Certainly hubby would love it as he likes vermouth (I like gin, sorry)
Love your coloured glasses, yes, you were lucky.
Sorry for the late comment. I got busy last night.
Happy belated T-Day and if you celebrate Christmas, I wish you a very happy one,
    Lisca
