2nd week of November’s Art Every Day and also in NaBloPoMo

November 8th

Day #8 of AEDM and NaBloPoMo – their writing prompt for today is: If you could redo one moment in your life, what would it be and why? How would it change who you are now? May I be honest with you? I hate this question or I should probably say I don’t like it. Of course, there are things that I regret. Times I made a bad, in hindsight, choice or said a wrong word. But that doesn’t mean that I would want a re-do for those instances. Those moments are part of what made me who I am today. And I am pretty o.k. with the outcome. If I wasn’t, it were time for a change, not a re-do.

The reason they chose this very prompt for today is most likely the fact that it is election day in the US. Now don’t worry, I will not get political on you, I never have and I never will, because politics and I just do not compute. Having said that, I would never shy away from the responsibility of doing my duty and go out there and vote today. Well, honestly, if I were able to vote and I am not, because I am not an American citizen, I would have opted for mail-in voting instead of queuing at the polls. But that’s just me.

How about you? Are you a mail-in person like me or do you prefer to go to the polls in person? Are you shopping online or do you like going to a mall? If you have the choice, do  you send an email or pick up the phone?

I guess my answer to those questions is pretty clear: Online and email – that’s me! But don’t get me wrong, I do go to a mall on occasion, I like to hang out with people and talk on the phone or skype etc., but if something, a chore may be done online with the same result – I’m all over it.

Hm, I guess I went off on a tangent here, didn’t I? So, let’s go even a little further. Just before our vacation at OBX sadly and suddenly my FIL passed away, so David flew to WA to be with his mom and, as I had to work, I followed a few days later to spend some time together. Not having much to do I grabbed my camera on occasion, well, iPhone as it was not a photo trip, and took a few pictures. WA is so very different to NJ, such gorgeous, rugged and wild nature, it always fascinates and tickles me to pick up my camera. Therefore over the next few posts I will be sharing more photos from my visit(s) to the Olympic Peninsula.

Today I wanted to start off with an impromptu natural light, still life session. My MIL has quite the vegetable garden despite the somewhat adverse conditions there in WA, which do include lots of deer that just love munching her veggies. As do we, by the way. There was some kind of squash (sorry, I forgot the name, but it was yummy!), little paprika, cucumber and radishes. So, one sunny day she decided to harvest some of the veggies and I, of course, trailed her with my camera. Which resulted in the photos below taken outside on the deck. And I am really having a hard time deciding which one I like best. Good thing I don’t have to.

Cheers,

  1. So sorry to hear a out your FIL. Love the photos. They remind me of my grandma and her garden. She loved gardening and grew all kinds of things. We used to sneak in and steal strawberries straight from the plant. She would get mad if we ate too many.
I’m like you – online shopping and email it text – it’s not that i mind going to the mall or speaking on the phone. I just prefer the other way.
I voted early and was in an out in no time but did briefly contemplate using mail in voting. I may next time. 🙂

  2. So sorry to hear about your FIL – condolences to David and yourself. 🙁
But beautiful natural lighting on fresh garden produce… oh yes, I am here for that!! It all looks good and now I want a salad. Or some butternut squash soup. Ha. Can’t wait to see the photos.
I am a go-to-the-polls kinda gal because it is literally across the street from my house. Couldn’t be easier. I don’t do much shopping online because I am broke. LOL But, if I wasn’t… oh hell yeah.

  3. Bright blessings to David’s dad, David, you and the family. Hard. The pictures are wonderful. I can see them in a restaurant brochure! I do not like shopping in person and prefer to shop online. The only thing is I have to get groceries and that is not something I can get delivered (yet) or would trust another to do for me!!
