Photoshop watercolor art for s~A(R)T~urday

Welcome to the weekend. Welcome to Saturday art link up!

s~A(R)T~urday

The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.”  Francis Bacon

I had hoped to be showing you a different picture today. But truth be told limping around with my broken foot and other health issues seem to be draining from me any energy I have left after my day at work. I can hardly believe how much and how well I am sleeping. It still amazes me. I never used to sleep that (!) much. I guess my body needs it at the moment.

But it means that this week I have created exactly nothing, zero, zip. Which really makes me sad. Even now, as I am typing this, I have the urge in me to create. I want to open Lightroom and Photoshop and start painting, editing. I can feel it strong. But not strong enough. My mind and body keep whispering ‘the couch, go and lie down, you’ll feel better and then…’. Hahaha – like that’s going to happen. And I bet I am not alone hearing that whisper, right?

So, I am presenting you, well, something a little different. Again. With my background in landscape and nature photography a lot of my composites involve those photos. But in this case my own pictures, the many roses, which I edited to resemble a watercolor painting, take a backseat to stock images and textures from Katie Pertiet, Anna Aspnes and an unknown source. Often times when I start with an image I do not have a clear concept of where I am going. This time I knew I wanted to do something with the watercolor technique and that lonely broken doll. So, I added this and that and, of course, some Photoshop mojo and here we are.

rose, doll, grunge, clock, time

Do you have signs of spring in your area yet? Do you work with those signs in your spring art or do you prefer to pull out older material?

*** Here is where I link up today. ***

I hope that over time we will be building a community dedicated to art and creating. My personal medium is photography and photo art, but I do not want to put a limit on my art link up. Thus I encourage you to join me, no matter which your art form is.

Please don not be intimidated that I am calling this an art link up. I want you to share your creations. Art is completely subjective. It takes courage and time to realize that you may actually call your own creations art. If you believe they are pieces of art, I believe they are. They may be good or bad or great – who am I to say?! I’d rather like to think along these words from Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.

Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.

While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!

  1. I feel your exhaustion Claudia. Hopefully you will be back to 100% very soon. I am looking forward to 10 whole days of no office. I do have a to-do list a mile long for the house, but I have also penciled in two cemetery trips. Hopefully weather cooperates.

I love that picture. Very steampunk with a sweet child-like feel. The colors are lovely and peaceful.

    • I hope so, too, but it will be quite a bit longer. For starters another two weeks of no weight on the foot i.e. two crutches – sigh… I can imagine that you are looking forward to having 4/15 behind you. We actually finalized our taxes 99 % this weekend. Final, final touches tomorrow and away they go…

Thanks, Debbi. I was actually thinking steampunk, but then I didn’t pull it through, not really. But thank you.

  2. Claudia, I am glad that you are getting the rest you need and I hope you recover real soon!

Whether it’s new or old, I LOVE the art that you shared – it reminds me that I have a clock buried somewhere in my closet begging to be altered one of these days!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for hosting!

  3. I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, Claudia, but kudos to you for listening to your body! I hear that same whisper occasionally 😉 Thank you for sharing again.

  4. That’s so gorgeous. It reminds me of the mixed media pieces my grandfather used to create. All were based on nostalgia.
So sorry you’re still not feeling that great. I’m a firm believer that the body sleeps when it really needs to heal. Happy dreams!

    • It’s funny I come from a pretty creative family, but mixed media never seemed to be one of the creative outlets. Yet through my learning I am really starting to like it.
Yes, I believe so, too. If we do not give our bodies what they want and need (and deserve) they will let us know, one way or the other.

    • There are many softwares to use, it does not have to be Photoshop (although I am quite biased and would not want to miss it). And as for drawing – well, I would not say I can draw, but I like trying 🙂

  5. Thinking of you and your injury:( My hubs now has a sprained ankle! We are three peas in a pod!!! As for spring right now I’m thinking of old art, because I’m not sure what I can and can’t do yet physically with my “art” (yoga)…..healing and artistic vibes coming to you! xo

    • Haha – I guess we really are three peas in a pod 😀 Smiling while it is not really funny, but I believe we should always make the best of every situation.
It is true, my kind of art we can still do, yoga – not so much. I did a little while sitting and lying yesterday, which meant essentially breathing and stretching. But it felt good nonetheless.
Hope your you and your hubs are both improving in a hurry! But not hurrying – if you get my drift 😉

  6. So sorry you are hobbling around. Hope that you are recovering well and back to your normal routines soon. I think having to miss out on creative passions would be really hard. I do love this creation of yours!

    • Thanks, Kim. I’ll be hobbling around for a while longer, but I am positive that it is getting better. Not being able to really go outside, take my camera and catch the awakening of spring, is tough. As is wasting so much time not being able to ‘just walk’; but at least spring is here to lift my spirit.
