Spring flowers mash up

Welcome to the weekend. Welcome to Saturday art link up!

s~A(R)T~urday

““Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing.  Making your unknown known is the important thing.”

Georgia O’Keeffe

You may have noticed that I stuck with last week’s quote by Georgia O’Keefe. Why? Because that very first part ‘whether you succeed or not…’ – that’s me this time for s~A(R)T~urday. I wanted spring flowers and happiness and enjoying life and all of it together. But – I struggled. Finally last night I started on this piece. By just throwing a couple of images together, blending and masking bits and pieces and it somehow worked, but something was missing. I added texture overlays and deleted them. I outlined the flowers’ petal, in different colors, and deleted them all again. I added border after border, tried different color combination, but nothing really stuck.

Until this happened – my spring flowers mash-up. Do you see them? Dandelion with dew drops, daffodil and the pink one that I don’t know what it is, it is a tree actually.

Like so often I am not a hundred percent convinced I like this one. Or that I should even show it to you. But it does not matter (too much) I created it. That’s what matters.

I hope you’ll find some time to create something this weekend. Or just go out and enjoy the weather. We’re probably going for another bike ride later, never mind threatening thunderstorms – pssst, they will make for gorgeous clouds!

Speaking of clouds… a blogging friend of mine actually have a nice feature that I am going to adopt. My link up is open until next Tuesday and usually what happens is that the links that got added first get the most clicks. Therefore from now on I am going to feature the link that got added last the previous week. But, do not take this as an invitation to link up late 🙂 And guess what, it just so happens that last week’s last link comes from just this blogger friend: Jen of Pierced Wonderings. Check out the gorgeous light and clouds she caught on their local lighthouse. Isn’t this beautiful?

I hope that over time we will be building a community dedicated to art and creating. My personal medium is photography and photo art, but I do not want to put a limit on my art link up. Thus I encourage you to join me, no matter which your art form is.

Please do not be intimidated that I am calling this an art link up. I want you to share your creations. Art is completely subjective. It takes courage and time to realize that you may actually call your own creations art. If you believe they are pieces of art, I believe they are. They may be good or bad or great – who am I to say?! I’d rather like to think along these words from Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.

Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.

While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Why don’t you join me along my journey and follow me on fbgo and tw if you prefer and see what I come up with next. You can, of course, also subscribe by email – (click) here or you may follow my blog with Bloglovin or my preferred reader Feedly.

Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!

  1. nay, no need to change the list is not needed. The reason why late once get few visits is just that. They are late! After two days I / people don´t go back to the linkup to check for newcomers. If they want visits they have to visit themselves and hope for return visits.

🙂 The land is yellow with daffodils right now. Looks nice 🙂 Have a great weekend.

  2. Oh wow! Thank you Claudia! I don’t have a new post yet for this week, but I think this will give me an excuse to create something to post on Sunday mornings – I’ll work on getting something pulled together this evening 😉

I really like what you’ve created for this week – I think the daffodil and the dandelion work so well together! I’m not sure about the pink in the center – maybe if the petals followed the curves of the daffodil more (rotated to the left?) but I do really like the way that it is like the iris in an eye – that dot in the center. So maybe the more I look at it, the more I like it 😉 Once again – awed by your ability to put these things together. So lovely!

I appreciate your support of Photo Friday!

    • Any excuse to create (art) is a good excuse! Please do join us!
It is kinda what I am thinking: It works and then it does not, I am undecided. Let’s just leave it at that.
      Thank you, Jen!

  3. Love the bright yellow and red… and then that delicate touch of white fanning out and up. And it looks like dewdrops?? nice contrast to the fan of the delicate feathers. One of those ones where you think it shouldn’t work, but for whatever reason it absolutely does!
and like you said, you made it: so it is great. All about using your creativity and celebrating the results no matter what.

Love her picture with those fluffy clouds!! what a great capture. And a fantastic idea to share that you have adopted. 🙂

  4. Stopping by for a qucik comment in between birthday parties. Running from one to the next… It’s always nice to see your creations. I like this one – a flower, within a flower, within another. It actually helped me relax for a minute and that’s awesome. So thanks for that! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. xoxo

  5. Yes, I see the dandelion in your photo-art. I like the color and the texture this mash up created. I’m feeling my way around this whole thing and am not too sure what I’m doing half the time, but I am enjoying experimenting in depth with PhotoShop Elements, as well as Pixelmator (very similar to PSE). Thanks for hosting the fun!

    • Not knowing what yu’re doing half the time is not that bad, Cathy. Sometimes I still feel that way. And sometimes I see published photos or photo art by people and think to myself ‘they don’t know anything’. But hey, I am not judging, though I do have my opinion. If I voice it is a totally different story 🙂 I seriously think that experimenting with Photoshop or any other editing program or phone app is part of the whole fun.
