The evolution from a photo to a watercolor painting

Welcome to my s~A(R)T~urday linky party – today:  Photo or Painting

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

~ Andy Warhol ~

Photos. I want to post photos, too, not only my paintings as I have done lately. Yet, when I look at my photos I am feeling very uninspired.

It is not that they are bad, far from it. I actually have a few very nice shots both taken with my DSLR and also my iPhone plus action windsurfing shots of the freestyle pros on Bonaire, too. But – I am still lacking inspiration to actually edit them.

Also, I want to write a lot less (!) in my blog posts again. My apologies for my last couple that have been a teensy bit lengthy.

So today I present you a mix of all of it: Short post, photo and drawing – and (the drawing is) definitely not finished yet, but I thought I’d show you a work in progress for once. See for yourself below.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers,

claudia3

  1. Wow. You never cease to amaze me, Claudia. All of your art is so real and so genuine, though. You put a lot into each piece and it true to itself and to you. Thank you for sharing your art and your space.

  2. Cute picture, Claudia! The surfer’s hair reminds me of Fast Times At Ridgemont High and the fish reminds me of Jaws. I am giggling trying to create a fusion of the two movies. LOL!

  3. I can see a lot of “umph”, Claudia. I am not sure it needs more work, it is dramatic as is. But, now I am curious to see what “umph” you will add. Beautifully done and you really don’t need to shorten what you write for us … maybe for you, time wise, but I enjoy reading your constantly evolving thoughts 🙂

  4. Hello Claudia! Thank you for dropping by. I finally understood what caused my issues with commenting here. I have saved the direct link to Saturday art. It does not show me the comment tab. But when i come to your blog and click on the latest post i can see the comment tab without a problem. I am so happy to solve this. I was feeling rude to just link my post and leave. I want to comment and tell that i like your art very much.I think your photos are very inspiring. Looking at it i felt the wind and the drops flying by. And the cats are so cute.I have a 12 year cat and wanted to paint cats since forever. But he is so fluffy and it is a challenge 🙂 Maybe i will give it a go, too. Happy weekend to you. And thank you for continuing the Saturday Art Party. I love visiting everybody 🙂

  5. I am just starting to get inspired about photography again. It’s hard to maintain during the winter – especially when it’s far too cold outside to actually stand outside trying to shoot something. I thought I would try more indoor stuff this past winter, but I guess my real inspiration lies in Nature. Now I am actually looking forward to getting out and capturing Spring bursting all around us!

I actually really really love seeing your work in progress! Especially starting with such a brilliant action shot, and then how it inspired you to create something that keeps growing. Love that.
And you know you could talk all day long and I would still be here. Ha. But I’ll take ya short and sweet too. 😉

    • Thank you for your support, Leslie – always

I wanted to go to our arboretum to take some photos today. Driving to work during the weeks I was admiring all the dogwood trees in bloom. They are soooo beautiful. I think they are slowing pushing magnolia from its place of ‘my favorite blooming tree’ :). However, it looks like it is going to rain. We’ll see.

    • Hahaha – I didn’t draw like this back then either, but I did draw. A lot! Then I stopped for the better part of my life and now I have started again to draw and paint and realized that I still love it a lot.

  6. Wow, drawing and coloring on the iPad! I’m in awe! I tried it often enough but all I do just looks ridiculous. ;o) Love your photo too! Auch dir einen schönen Sonntag.

  7. Herrlich, was Ihr für schönes Wetter habt!

  8. First of all, what a superb photograph – what action and movement and beautiful colours.
Then you’ve made a fabulous drawing, and I did enjoy seeing you colour it gradually.
I love the way you have taken the photograph and used it to make something the same but quite different.
And the monster was fun too, a great idea.
