Which photo mood are you in?

Before tackling the bathroom – again – I thought I would work on a couple of photos I took a few days back. I was driving to the supermarket when I saw these power lines and a couple of birds sitting on them. It was a a pretty bright and glaring day,  so not particular good for ‘well or ‘correct’ exposed photos.

However, the abstract and minimalistic nature of the subject caught my eye and I just had to take a few shots. Then I went shopping and almost forgot about them. Until this morning I found them in my Lightroom. Feeling kind of crappy from allergies I went through my normal workflow: Basic development of the raw image in Lightroom and then export it to Photoshop. I could have just
converted it to e.g. a black & white picture, which would have probably worked well, since there are so little colors in the initial photo anyhow. But these days I am into textures, dreamy bokeh and/or grunge look, so I added some, trying to find the right one, adjusting the colors, levels etc. And now, here is the problem, I actually blame it on not feeling 100 %, now I have two versions of the same photo, a lighter one and a darker one with lots of contrast. I do not really want to keep them both, but right now I cannot decide which one I prefer.

Oh, and if that was not enough, I also had zoomed in on one of the shots I took and developed it in yet another version.

See my dilemma? 3 photos – 1 subject – 3 versions – which one to choose? In most cases, I have a certain vision for a specific photo, but this one… as I said, I blame it on not feeling too good today.

While have not made up my mind, I have for now entered the dark, contrasty one in my shop on Etsy, which you can find here. So, which photo mood are you in? Which one would you prefer?

And now it is of to my DIY project: Bathroom.
