Welcome to the weekend. Welcome to Saturday art linky
s~A(R)T~urday
Despite best intentions I failed.
Last week I did not get to spend much time on creating art. There was work, there were doctor’s appointments, there was more work and there was worrying.
But still, I made time. A little time only, Wednesday evening. I wanted to spend at least a few minutes doing some photoshop work. And I did.
For a little while working on art lets me delve into another world, entirely.
And for a while I live in that other world, completely.
I forget the here and now and time flies by, fast.
Creating art is healing, always.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso
The top, small picture was the one it all started with Wednesday evening. Just a few minutes of dabbling in Photoshop. A photo, a layer, a texture, another photo etc. etc. Then it was definitely bed time. But I could not stay away from the image. So Thursday night before David got home and after he went to bed I dabbled a little more and finished it. It is still very much a quick work. The picture that entailed a little bit more time and work is in Tuesday’s Coffee Chat post here, if you’re curious.
Now it is your turn. Share with us what you have created lately or some time ago.

*** Here is where I link up today. ***
If you feel like spreading the word about my Saturday Art Linkup, please grab my badge below:
Since this is a new link up I think I will leave my little explanation up in this post . There are actually three reasons behind my offering this opportunity to showcase your art a little.
- I love art, see and experience, fantasize and dream, live and create it
- For a long time I wanted to create my own link up. One that represents – me, in a creative sense, of course, = art
- A while back there used to be a photo art link up I participated in a few times, but Bonnie (Photo Art Friday) is taking an extended break
There are oh.so.many link ups out there on the web it is mind-boggling. You can get seriously lost in any number of them. While they can be a big time sucker they are also always a lot of fun. Behind each link up there usually is – at some point – a dedicated community. One that over time I am hoping to build with my link up, too. Please don’t be intimidated that I am calling this an art linky. Simply share some of your creations. Art is completely subjective. It takes courage and time to realize that you may actually call your own creations art. And if you believe they are pieces of art, I believe they are. They may be good or bad or great – who am I to say?! I’d rather like to think along these words from Andy Warhol:
“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
Having said that I want this link up to be open to all arts. Yes, my personal medium is photography and photo art, which is what you will be getting from me. But I do not want to put a limit on my art link up and thus it is open to all forms of (somewhat) visual art. I am saying somewhat, as it has to be able to be displayed in a digital way here on the website. That does include
photography – yes, straight out of the camera is fine, too
– as long as you think it is art –
photo art – edited, enhanced, destroyed, composited – whatever
– as long as you think it is art –
writing – I don’t have the words to describe this one, but…
– as long as you think it is art –
painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, design, crafts, video, graphic design… everything!
– as long as you think it is art – it is art – show it!

I kind of failed too. There is only so much time. So I linked to the most artistic thing I did this week. It works for me. 🙂
It certainly works for me, too. And the way you arranged everything for the photo – it is a beautiful still life, Rebecca.
Very interesting, I like the softness that bring the moviniento blue waves! pretty and delicate !!
Very interesting, I like the softness that bring the blues in the movement of the waves! pretty and delicate !!
Thank you so much, Leovi. I am glad you find that it did not lose all its softness through the textures.
i don’t see a fail….the image is interesting and creative!! artsy for sure!!!!
Thank you, Debbie, I guess in the end I turned the week around by at least getting this one artsy piece done. I just wished there had been more, but that’s for another week.
there is something so very calming and serene about that image. but then the layer of all the blues also gives it a rather energy too. Like you are being both renewed and revitalized: which I suppose good art should do, right?! 🙂
Mine was rather hurried due to a busy week as well. Not so much the poem, but the image was harder to get right. I had to leave Photo Shop and switch tactics; but that’s okay — if one way doesn’t succeed: create, create, create in another! 🙂
You are absolutely right with the ‘create, create and then create some more’ and ‘there are always different ways’. I am a heavy Photoshop user, but that does not mean that you have to do so, too. There are many other great software programs out there to create art. I actually find it easy to get confused by sometimes trying too many 🙂
I like your image. To me it shows that one can “drown” themselves in a sea of awesome music that quenches the soul. Very pretty. I did something up today just for this meme. It’s not super intense as I don’t have Photo Shop but I liked it and hope you do as well.
Interesting interpretation of the image – thank you for sharing your vision!
And thank you so much for creating a piece of art just to link up here. I think your crow picture + quote is awesome. It does not matter if you have or use Photoshop, there are many other programs and possibilities to create art.
Thank you, Ida.
It’s a pretty photo for sure. And upon closer examination, I noticed there’s a music sheet under there! And I see the words “Sancta Maria” peeking out… This creation, then, kind of takes on a whole new meaning besides serenity and blues… To me, because of the words, it looks more like innocence, strength of a woman, rebirth, and life (which is depicted by the water). Did that make sense?
Wow – now I’m totally blown away by your interpretation of my image… awesome… thank you so much for taking the time to feel and analyse my image, for sharing your feelings about it. And it totally makes sense to me, how can it not?
Thank you, Janice.
I love this creation with its many layers of meaning 🙂
Thank you, Lisa. Reading through previous comments, you pretty much nailed it with ‘… many layers of meaning…’. But that is the fun part about art. Many people can depict the same story or meaning, while many others do see something entirely different. It is another aspect I love about art.
Thank you, Lisa.
What a beautiful link up and love your art. Beautiful images. The girl in the ripples of water is stunning & very interesting. Look forward to seeing more of what you do. Saying bonjour via Friendship Friday.
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a footprint so that I could find my way to your beautiful story. I hope to be seeing you again soon!
I know just what you mean – that healing other world. And then sometimes for me, I come back to this one so fast my head spins.
Hope the worrying is over and only good answers come your way.
Hmmm, I think little kids sometimes would have me return to this world here in a hurry, too 🙂 but then I know I would have to find other times when I would return back again to ‘art world’…
Yes, for now worrying is put on hold. After our vacation there most likely will be a medical procedure, but (hopefully) nothing too major. Thanks, Tamara
You are so talented! hope you get more time for art this week.
Thank you, Tamar. I just realized I am a bad blogger, only getting to answering Monday’s comments today – tststs
Love the shades and there is something mystical about the emergence of a person from the ripples of water. Lovely touch with the music.
I think you are right, Nick, especially water can harbor deep mysteries… hmm, but so do people 🙂
Claudia, your art is SO gorgeous and inspiring! I really enjoyed catching up with some of the lovely posts and photos you’ve recently shared on your blog this evening!
I also love this new party you’ve started! VERY inspiring… will try to join you in the weeks to come! 🙂
Congratulations – wanted to let you know that you are going to be my Featured Friend at this week’s Friendship Friday at Create With Joy (#160)! We will be live on Thursday.
Have a wonderful and inspiring week! 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words and for the shout out on your website. I appreciate it and look forward to having you link up here every Saturday.
