Cocktail composite

Welcome to my s~A(R)T~urday linky party – today: A cocktail composite

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”
~ Thomas Merton ~

’tis the Saturday after Christmas in the US and boxing day or 2nd Christmas Day in other parts of our world. I hope you had or are having a wonderful Christmas time. We certainly did. We went bike riding on Christmas Eve (that’s a first!), had yummy food, made and enjoyed a cocktail or two and are now having some quiet time at home, tinkering with our computers, websites and such. I have also started to make a journal as in a cover for the first time. But more on that in a different post.

I am not sure how many people will actually be online today, but I wanted to post my Saturday art link up anyway. After being shopping (computer toys) this morning I sat down and started Lightroom and Photoshop. Browsing through my photos I began compiling a few, playing around with them in different layers, applying blend modes, using different brushes and some more. And out came this little beauty.

Enjoy and have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Why don’t you join me along my journey and follow me on fbgo and tw if you prefer and see what I come up with next. You can, of course, also subscribe by email – (click) here or you may follow my blog with Bloglovin or my preferred reader Feedly.

I hope that over time we will be building a community dedicated to art and creating. I rather like these words said by Andy Warhol:

Don’t think about making art, just get it done.

Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.

While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!

  1. Interesting composition. I have also been watching your posts on FB about the computer building. Never a dull moment with youse guys! LOL! Hope you had a grand Christmas!

    • Thanks. Yup, always something going on, which I really like. But I sometimes dislike, too, because it always makes me feel like there is too much to do and too little time to actually doing it… oh well…
The computer is now set up, picture will be coming, and we are installing all the software and updates. Now that will take easily as long as building it.

    • Photoshop is a wonderful program and I love it to bits, so a little word of warning: Don’t get lost in it! Hahaha – seriously, sometimes I am getting so caught up in one of my layered works that hours have passed and someone is asking ‘…when are we having dinner…’ – LOL

  2. Gorgeousness! I wasn’t online but I am now, and I have a lot to catch up on.
I’m happy to say that the holiday spirit did hit me, in the nick of time. The ice looks very inviting.

    • Thanks, Tamara. I think it is a good thing that you weren’t online, sometimes you have to take a break. And I’m glad to hear that the Christmas spirit hit you just in time, too. Hope you will be caught up in no time and without stress.

  3. very funky edit, I like it!
I was briefly online, but then we were off to the next holiday celebration. Also my kids really need to learn to sleep in, because they have been up late almost every single night, and they wake up at the same time. We are all rather tired here. Thankfully I got my favourite coffee for Christmas… and still have Bailey’s! 🙂
So I can’t wait to see this journal cover??? Like a writing journal? I love them. I collect them – I have them everywhere. ha

    • Thanks, Les. When I started this, I really just wanted to do a ‘quickie’ since I was already running late, but then I got into it and took it a bit further.
That is what the holidays are for – go celebrate! The internet and all of us will still be here when you return. Oh, and Bailey’s (on ice) always helps anything.
The journal – yes, hmm, maybe next Saturday? We’ll see. It is part of the Woman Unleashed that I told you about. I am loving it!!

  4. What a great image! I love your composite images and the way you create them. I know I’ve said it before, but I am in no way creative like that!

As always, thank you for sharing with us at Photo Friday! I hope that you are preparing for an incredible new year 😉

    • Thank you, Jen. But, please, don’t say ‘you are not creative like that’. I am certain that if you wanted to be and make the time, you would be great. I also think that it is a good idea to learn all you can about photography first and then go further into manipulation. Then again – that’s just me. I always need to feel that way.
Incredible year, huh?! I sure hope so – like you I really want to expand my blogging/website.

  5. What a wonderful way to spend during Christmas – an few hours bike riding. We normally go but have not been yet – you have inspired me. Love the art work the layers and colours surprisingly work well, just need to think of the white spaces and how to combine. Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

    • It was a very different Christmas Eve for us, but we certainly enjoyed it, bike riding is a lot of fun. As is creating my art, I am glad you like it.
Thanks for stopping by, Nina, I will sure return the visit. Happy New Year!
