Thanksgiving – day 3 of creating a game in 4 days
After a slow day yesterday (here are our re-caps of day 0, day 1 and day 2), David was able to resolve the few remaining inventory issues this morning, and then proceeded to something that every novice game developer does on their first day. But after almost a year of fussing around with this game engine he still had not done: Creating monsters, spells, attacks, etc. You know, the sort of thing you normally expect in a game.
I suppose he tends towards non-violent games.
But the haunted forest is a dangerous place! So he did a quick sketch of a goblin, put him in the game, worked out a spell-casting system, and voila! Our witch now has a few grumpy green obstacles to her ingredient collecting quests.
Claudia did some nice background images to improve the images for the trees, sky, horizon, etc. She also did an animation for the witch when flying (which is not apparent in a static image).

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done.
Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.
While they are deciding, make even more art.”
Drop me a comment and you’ll make me smile!
Vielen Dank.
We are going to get to try to play this right?
Yes, absolutely if you want to 🙂
Again…truly…you are incredible! I would love to see this in action!
You may or you will, Annie. Thank you for the many encouraging words 🙂
It’s amazing to me how you put all this together. And I love that it is a collaboration between the two of you. I have a bit of a soft spot for witches, having grown up near a place called “Hexentanzplatz”, a tourist attraction in the Harz mountains of Germany.
Thank you, Susi. That collaboration wasn’t always easy ;). Yes, the witches of the Harz, I remember. Walpurgisnacht…
It’s really coming together nicely!! Can’t wait to see what Day 4 brings.
but right now, I am laughing over your text at the top of the image “blah blah blah…” LOL.
Hehehe – and you know what? the ‘blah blah blah, I do not sound like that’… is from one episode of Supernatural, which stuck with us.
