Frozen

A

nother Sunday afternoon and again time for some frozen photos. Because here in my corner of the world, everything is still frozen. While I am aware that this is quite normal for some of you folks up north, it is not for me. Heck, I cannot remember when it was last that I had such a long stretch of cold and / or snow! Yes, there was the odd snow storm or cold, but not like this.

The first couple of times I usually hurried outside to catch photos of the frozen world around me. After all, it does look beautiful. But by now, I’d rather stay inside by the warm fire. Maybe, just maybe though, I might venture out one more time. I have seen long icicles glistening in the bright sun, hanging off the roofs of the surrounding houses. Beautiful. But I am not sure if a photo can do them any justice, however I may try.

Still, for today’s song that Kathy chose for her Song-ography, taken from the Disney movie ‘Frozen’, I am using photos taken before Christmas, when everything was covered in ice overnight. I had a beautiful morning walk around the neighborhood shooting pictures. Although I have not seen the film, Disney is not that high up on the list in our household, I like the song’s message and it cannot be said often enough: You are what you are. Do not try to conform (too much), to hide yourself. You are beautiful and loved the way you are. Let go of all the worries of what others might think and reveal to the world the real, honest and imperfectly perfect You ( or is it perfectly imperfect? Either way you know what I mean).

“My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past…

…that perfect girl is gone”

  1. Oh my…these are all quite lovely BUT…that first shot literally took my breath away. It is simple on the surface, but if you truly look at it the details are mesmerizing! And I”m with you…I am NOT a fan of Disney princess movies. As a matter of fact, I use to make the Better Half take the kids to them when they were little. But there is something about THIS one that caught my attention, and I am so glad I went to see it. Not your typical Disney princess movie and messages. I could see a lot of myself in the main character. I think that maybe Disney was aiming this at the older women??!!?? haha. Well, IF that was the intent…it worked with me! :). Thank you for joining in at Song-ography, and I wish for you some warm breezes blowing your way (AFTER they pass thru MY town!).

    • Thank you so much, Kathy. Hahaha – that is so funny ‘Disney aiming at the ‘older’ woman’ – 😀 – but, maybe they did. Not sure if I am ever going to see the film, we’ll have to wait. And thanks for sending over warm breezes, it’s o.k. if you want to enjoy them first, as long as we get some here. Soon.

  2. As you can imagine….. I’ve heard this song A Lot since my kids say the movie just before Christmas. But you’re right – it has a great message. Love your frozen captures. We don’t have ice so much, as just a lot of snow. I stood in the middle of a mini blizzard this morning with my continuous shooting on and tried to capture the blowing snow. we’ll see how it turns out – because you are so right: 10 seconds and my fingers were too frozen to operate the camera any more!!
back inside to the fire and coffee!

  3. Wow you had some amazing shots. I loved them all. – I’m not a big fan of winter and we’ve been lucky here to have not had much snow (although it might not be such a good thing for the crops). I am now following your blog.
